Thursday 18 April

Meet at the airport at 6.45 am for Air Malta flights to Munich departing at 8.45am. On arrival, transfer by private coach to Wagrain, Austria with a stop by the lake side of Chiemsee.

Friday 19 April

Breakfast will be followed by a full day optional excursion to Salzburg, the City of Mozart. A town rich in history and embellished with baroque palaces and churches. The old town center, on the banks of the River Salzach sits under the 11th Century protective fortress of Hohensalzburg, which one can visit via an optional funicular ride.

Saturday 20 April

Full day, optional excursion to the shores of Jagersee, a picturesque lake with crystal clear waters. The high Alps, rocky hills, cliffs, and forests make up the idyllic scenery of this area. We then stop at the village of Bischofhofen for some shopping.

Sunday 21 April

Happy Easter! There will be free time this morning for those who wish to attend mass. We will then take the cable car (entrance extra) to the top of one of Wagrain’s mountains. The excursion will then take us to the town of Zell am See with its beautiful old houses and modern shops.

Monday 22 April

During today’s full day optional excursion, we shall visit the 17th century Hellbrunn Palace (entrance extra), which was the summer resort of the Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg. We shall visit its gardens and will then have a guided tour of the trick fountains. We shall then proceed to Redbull Hangar-7, home of the Flying Bulls, which hosts an impressive collection of Redbull sponsored cars, motorbikes and historic airplanes including Formula1 vehicles.

Tuesday 23 April

We shall start the day’s optional excursion with Berchtesgaden, a charming little mountain town that sits in one of the most spectacular natural settings in the world. Salt mining in Berchtesgaden has been in uninterrupted operation since 1517. Today we shall enjoy a tour of these salt mines (entrance extra) which includes an underground train ride, a sound and light show detailing the history of the mine, a descent to the lower galleries and a trip across the underground lake. We will then proceed to Lake Konigsee, Germany’s deepest and cleanest lake. One can take a boat ride (entrance extra) passing by lazy boathouses, roaring waterfalls, lofty mountain faces and the breath-taking domes of Saint Bartholoma Church.

Wednesday 24 April

The last optional excursion will take us to Werfen Castle (entrance extra) surrounded by the Berchtesgaden Alps. The tour of the castle will be followed by the Falcon Show where a number of birds of prey show their flying skills. We shall also visit Hallstatt, an unbelievably spectacular place in a breath-taking mountain setting. It is so spectacular that the Chinese have created a copy of it.

Thursday 25 April

After an early breakfast our coach will take us to the airport of Munich for our return flight to Malta departing at 12:10 pm. We are expected to land at around 2:20 pm.
