Saturday 9 February

Meet at the airport at 11:45 am for our Air Malta flight to Naples departing at 1:45 pm. Upon arrival, at around 3:10 pm, we shall be transferred to our 4* hotel in Sorrento – Hotel Ascot. Check-in followed by dinner (extra) and a familiarisation walk.

Sunday 10 February

Full day optional excursion to the small island of Capri. We shall walk for around 10 minutes to reach Piazza Tasso from where we descend to the port (by lift) to catch the catamaran to Capri (catamaran is extra). Capri is seriously beautiful. There’s barely a grubby building or untended garden to blemish the splendour. Steep cliffs rise majestically from an impossibly blue sea; elegant villas drip with wisteria and bougainvillea. Even the trees seem to be carefully manicured. On arrival at Marina Grande, we will take the funicular (extra – to be paid on the spot) which climbs uphill through lemon groves and will drop us in Capri’s Piazzetta. The small quaint streets found up here are better explored on foot. One can either take the funicular (extra – to be paid on the spot) up to Anacapri for one of the most breath-taking views or the public transport. Dinner (extra) at the hotel.

Monday 11 February

Full day optional excursion that will take us to see the Amalfi Coast. Magically suspended between the blue sky and the iridescent coloured sea, the Amalfi coast seems to be born from the palette of a painter who wanted to use the warmer colour gradients to create a landscape that enchants the visitor at the first sight. We shall stop in Amalfi, the town that gives its name to the coast. At the centre of the main square there is the beautiful Cathedral of St. Andrew, with its impressive staircase, the bell-tower in Arab-Norman style and the charming Cloister of Paradise. We then proceed to Positano, one of the best-known places on the Amalfi coast for its picturesque staircases and whitewashed houses. A stop will also be made in Ravello for a stunning view from Villa Cimbrone Belvedere, one of the most famous in the world. Dinner (extra).

Tuesday 12 February

Check-out from the hotel after breakfast and we proceed to Pompeii (entrance extra). It is the most-visited archaeological site in the world, due to its many well-preserved ruins This ancient site forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. Our last stop will be in the city of Naples, with one of the biggest historical city centres in the world. Via San Gregorio Armeno is one of the most amazing attractions in Naples having numerous shops with creative nativity scenes and figurines in all variations. Besides the Jesus and Madonna figurines you will also find detailed copies of pizzerias, fruit markets, all household objects, gastronomic delights, exotic animals, and sometimes even caricatured politicians and football players. Our return flight to Malta is scheduled to leave from Naples at 8:15 pm.
